Death in communication of pedagogical workers and parents with preschool children

This bachelor thesis focuses on the problematics of death, its perception among children and their process of mourning. It speaks about the differences while dealing with the loss of a loved one between adults and children, how children's feelings during this time differ from adults and in which way are they the same. The goal of this thesis is to find out in what way, if at all, do teachers in preschools and parents communicate with children about death. Theoretical part focuses on children's mourning and on appropriate ways of communicating with them about death during the loss of a loved done. In the practical part it describes and evaluates surveys aimed at parents and teachers in kindergartens. The main result of the work is the processing of their opinions and experiences on this topic and comparing them to the knowledge from theoretical part.
The Phenomena of Death in a Social Worker's Job

The death of a loved one is currently a very common topic, and it is important for a social worker to keep it in mind. This thesis is called "The Phenomena of Death in a Social Worker's Job". The theoretical part was made by using analysed relevant literature, chosen by snowballing sampling. This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first two chapters focus on the theory and definition of death, anticipation and sudden death, suicide, mourning and options to help the survivors. The third chapter contains the practical part, with research data, including charts and graphical interpretation. The goal of this empiric research is to use semi-structured online surveys to answer the main research question: "How do students of the second year of postgraduate study of major SACH at HTF UK feel about their readiness to handle death of their clients and confrontation with survivors during their work?" I was trying to find out whether students at our faculty are considering this topic and how they feel about it. The research shows that students do not feel prepared to encounter these topics during their work. The bereavement and grief during childhood and adolescence

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to survey the memories of college students who experienced the bereavement and grief during their childhood and adolescence by using a qualitative approach. Following study is designed to gather information of each participant's unique experience and attitude. The retrospective design also allows to identify the singularities in their understanding of it's impact to their current life. The theoretical part is focused on description of the main topics and related theories. I am especially focused on attitude of our society to the topic of death. I describe the development of child understanding of the concept of death. I also refer to current grief theories which are agreed upon by professionals mentioned the topic of Childhood Traumatic Grief. There are also noticed some intervention techniques and therapy methods which can help during the process. The empirical part is based on specification of the research applying semi-structured interviews. This investigation consists of six case studies, which are based on individual interviews with six volunteers. As expected, the findings from this study can demonstrate how varied the bereavement proces is for children.
Social-psychological help in bereavement

This work is dealing with the topic of helping with bereavement. The first chapter is covering the topic of death and dying in general. I'm evaluating changes in the concept of death in the past and present, which affected the extinction of important rituals and caused the tabooing of death. The work is supposed to motivate the reader to include the topic of death in casual conversations like in the past that is the first step of coping with bereavement. The next chapter is focusing on work with grief and the reactions of bereaved people to the loss of a close person. The chapter is describing available support measures for bereavement counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrists, self-help groups and crisis centres. This work is also focusing on the importance of interpersonal relations, need for solidarity and empathy in the time of grief.
How to introduce children to the topic of death?

In this thesis I follow up the question How can we communicate with children in a question of death. I mainly focus on dying, acceptance of death and what are the effects that death can have on children i describe historical and current views of the death from sociological perpective. I compare the differences of burials in various countries. Burials are closely related with the topics like grief and remembrance of survivors. The work also shows views of children's literature on the subject of death. This literature has become a guide for understanding the child's feelings perceived in personal contact with death. It also says how the child accept and how it is influenced by death. Finally, it points out the importance of communication and explanation of the current situation of the child. The main role does family or professional assistance that should be provided to the child. The contribution of this work to see that the critically summarized on Czech literature and briefly compared to abroad.
